NW Orthopedic Spokane Wrist Exam

Hand & Wrist

Hand & Wrist Surgeons

Working exclusively with the hand and wrist, our hand surgeons integrate all aspects of specialized care by collectively combining their knowledge, experience, and expertise as the foundation of our hand team at Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists.

Four board-certified orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Horn, Dr. Hulet, Dr. Sestero, and Dr. Wahl, are fellowship-trained in hand and wrist and have dedicated their practices to this specialized field of study. With their commitment to continued education through attending courses, lecturing, writing, and actively learning the newest procedures and techniques, our four surgeons are the most highly skilled hand and wrist surgeons in the area.

Conditions we treat

WALANT Technique

Wide Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet (WALANT) is a technique for hand and wrist surgery without sedation or general anesthesia. Throughout the procedure, patients are awake, there is no tourniquet used, and anesthesia is not administered. This technique offers many advantages over standard procedures including being less expensive and a healthier alternative to sedation or general anesthesia.

NWOS Hand Surgeon Dr. Sestero is the first surgeon in the region performing WALANT Hand & Wrist Surgery, and these procedures will be the type of surgery performed at the brand new NWOS Orthopaedic Surgery Center in Spokane Valley, which will be opening in 2023. When open, the new Ambulatory Surgery Center will be the only one of its kind in the region.

Preparing for My Appointment & New Patient Forms

"Dr. Sestero treated me for trigger finger and carpal tunnel on my left hand. The procedure went so much better than I could have imagined. Dr. Sestero and the entire staff were so friendly and caring. I have healed much quicker and with very little pain. Hope I never have to have surgery again but if I do or anyone I know does, I would recommend Dr. Sestero and the staff at Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists with high marks." — Cathey L.
