NWOS Invests in Second Robotic Technology for Knee Replacements
NWOS is now offering robotic-assisted knee replacements with the DePuy Synthes VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution
Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is excited to now offer robotic-arm assisted knee replacements with the DePuy Synthes VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution at our Ambulatory Orthopaedic Surgery Center in Downtown Spokane, Washington. Like the Mako Robotic System, the Depuy VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution is a joint replacement treatment option designed to relieve the pain caused by joint degeneration due to osteoarthritis. Robotic-Assisted Surgery Technology assists NWOS surgeons in select partial and total knee replacement surgery cases by taking into account each person's unique anatomy for greater precision, faster recovery, and the best possible outcomes. These specialized technologies will continue to build upon the advancements with orthopedic surgery and patient care, and the team at NWOS is proud to be able to offer patients the most advanced orthopedic care available.
“Treatment of knee arthritis with total knee replacement surgery has been proven to improve patient quality of life. Over the decades, this intervention has evolved. Not only are the implants improved, but the surgical technique and the perioperative care has been refined.” Said Dr. Kirk Reichard, Orthopedic Surgeon and Joint Replacement Specialist at NWOS, “This evolution has been gradual and I feel that robotics may prove to give us another incremental advancement. As orthopedic surgeons, we enjoy data and applying that data to our patient's care. Utilization of a robotic platform allows us to intraoperatively analyze the knee replacement in real-time. We have always tailored surgery to our patients’ unique needs, but I am hopeful that these additional technologies will help us further advance knee replacement surgery.”
The VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution, together with the ATTUNE® Knee System, is an advanced technology developed to assist orthopedic surgeons in knee replacement surgeries, and utilized in select cases by the knee specialists at NWOS. The VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution gives surgeons the control they are used to, adapts to their workflow, and reduces procedural steps without the increased risk of damage to the soft tissue envelope.
The demand for joint replacements is high and expected to continue to rise in the next decade. The popularity comes as no surprise given that a joint replacement enables a patient to be mobile and even active despite advanced arthritis. The team at Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists is honored to get to help their patients continue to live an active life, and they will continue to invest in the best technologies and education to keep the Spokane community moving.
If you have consistent knee pain and you would like to discuss the best option for you, whether that be surgical or non-surgical, the NWOS team would love to help you. Patients can make an appointment by calling 888-660-2663.
